Announcing TWO awards in Starsky & Hutch fandom

Sorry about the long radio silence on my end. Life has been pretty complicated lately. But SHareCon is around the corner, so it's time to kick it into gear. Expect to hear from me a lot this week! And the first thing we have to talk about is AWARDS! Please note: There are two specific email addresses to send your nominations. PLEASE DO NOT POST NOMINATIONS AS COMMENTS ON THIS POST. Thanks.

First: The Paula Wilshe Award for New Writers in Starsky & Hutch

Paula was a shining light in Starsky & Hutch fandom, a fan who loved to work with and encourage new writers. You can find out more about this wonderful woman on her fanlore page. We hope this award keeps her memory alive and celebrates writers in a way she would have enjoyed. Paula loved fan writers and she loved awards!

To participate in the Paula Wilshe Award:

1) Nominate your favorite eligible writers. You can nominate as many writers as you want, but you can only nominate each writer once. A list of the previous winners can be found here.

The eligibility period for new writers has been five years, but because we were unable to hold the award in 2015, we'll add a year. Nominate any writers who first published any S&H writing -- stories, poetry, articles --  either in a zine or on line between September 2009 and September 2015. Not sure if your favorite writer is eligible -- ask her! Writers are encouraged to nominate themselves.

2) After we tabulate the nominees, the writers with the most nominations will be our finalists. You can vote for any single finalist for the award, but you can vote only once. This is not American Idol!

Please note: Writers can only win this award once so previous winners are not eligible.

Send your nominations to the award committee (Keri, Cyanne, and Flamingo) at pwaward@sharecon.net with Paula Wilshe Nomination in the subject line. Please list author, author's email address, and, if available, any URL where we can find their writing.
We'll acknowledge every nomination as well as any questions you may have. Nominations will close on September 10. We'll announce the finalists and details on the last round of voting soon after. The winner will be announced at SHareCon and on line the next day. Thanks in advance for participating.

But wait, there's more!

NEW: The Marian Kelly Hall of Fame Award in Starsky & Hutch

During the print zine era, the Huggy Awards were given every other year at ZebraCon. We also had the online Torino awards starting in 2000. ZebraCon ended in 2007 and the Torinos in 2008. The only award our fandom had after that was the Paula Wilshe Award.
So the intrepid (read: crazy) people who brought you the Paula Wilshe Award decided to add a new award: the Marian Kelly Hall of Fame. A Founding Mother in SH fandom, Marian had a long history of creativity that included award winning zine stories, art, and letterzine contributions. She also ran one of the earliest Writer's Workshops at Zebracon in 1980. Check out her fanlore page here.

Categories for the Marian are:

1) Best Writer: for a body of work of stories, poetry, non-fiction, blogs, opinion, or anything written involving Starsky & Hutch. Hall of Fame writers are not eligible for the Paula Wilshe.

2) Best Writing: for a single work, such as stories, poetry, non-fiction, individual blog entries, opinion, or anything written involving Starsky & Hutch.

3) Best Artist: for a body of work of Starsky & Hutch art in any medium or genre.

4) Best Art: for a single work of Starsky & Hutch art in any medium or genre.

5) Best Vidder: for a body of work of Starsky & Hutch vids in any genre.

6) Best Vid: for a single Starsky & Hutch vid in any genre. Mixed media vids that only contain a few selected S&H clips are not eligible.

Each individual (e.g.: writer, artist) can only win once in an overall category and each piece of work (e.g.: piece of writing, piece of art, vid) can only win once in an individual category.

Send your nominations to the award committee (Keri, Cyanne, and Flamingo) at mkaward@sharecon.net with Marian Kelly Nomination in the subject line. Please list nominees and any relevant email addresses or URLs where we can find the nominees or their work. Nominate as many creators and works as you like but nominate each one only once!

We'll acknowledge every nomination as well as any questions you may have. Nominations will close on September 10. We will announce the finalists and details on the last round of voting soon after. The winners will be announced at SHareCon and on line the next day. Thanks in advance for participating in this new award.

Since Keri T, Cyanne, and Flamingo are organizing and tabulating this award, they are not eligible in any category.

Thanks in advance for your participation!
