Forgive the double posts, but that previous registration announcement was the unedited post. Editing helps! Here's the correct post:

This announcement is short and sweet. SHareCon registration is open. The earlier you register, the cheaper it is. Attending rates go up on June 2nd and again on August 26th. Sign up now and save! (Does this sound like an infomercial? Is it working? Good!)

The hotel is also ready to accept room reservations for SHareCon. The hotel page on the SHareCon website has details about the hotel location, room types, rates, and a link to the Homewood Suites by Hilton Baltimore-BWI Airport's custom SHareCon reservation page. If you make reservations through an internet site or an 800 number, the con will not get credit for your suite and you will not get the special con rate.

And finally, a reminder that after this announcement, all further updates will be posted to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook, so please make sure you are subscribed to one or both of those sources.

Any questions, feel free to ask Flamingo at flamingoslim @ verizon dot net.

The edited Flamingo!

I warned you more announcements would be coming! Here's number two.

I want to thank everyone for your enthusiastic response to the SHareCon poll. We got some wonderful input and suggestions. One of the most rewarding and surprising responses had to do with the paper zine. I was pretty sure the zine was just a pet project of the con comm, that most SHareCon goers had, at best, only minor interest in it. But according to our poll, the overwhelming majority wanted a paper zine and the digital version. So that is definitely happening! And we can't have a zine without contributors, so writers, artists, and all other creators, we need you. Keep an eye out for the zine announcement coming soon.

You also had some great fresh ideas for different con activities, games, panels, and surprises for the con bags. We're already looking into all of it! We will be sharing some of your suggestions in the discussion forums, and some we'll keep as fun surprises. As always, your creativity is what makes the con new and exciting after all these years.
Your input is important to us, so keep those ideas percolating. Which reminds me… I need coffee before the next round of announcements.

Just a reminder: we'll be posting the current round of announcements to the usual places, but after that, announcements will be limited to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook.

Those of us on the east coast woke up to a spring surprise! At the new Chez Flamingo, we've got 6 inches of snow so far and it's still coming down! Because the snow has restricted our ongoing moving tasks, it gives me a day to catch up on email announcements. And the first one (of a series!) is regarding our announcements. Yeah, you read that right -- this is an announcement about announcements.

As I've whined before, because of the fragmenting of fandom, I have to send out announcements to multiple platforms. The SHareCon poll helped us figure out how to make this process more efficient; thanks to all of you who participated. The next few announcement will be posted to the usual places, but after that announcements will be limited to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook.

The Facebook group will be using the hashtag #SHareCon so you can find the announcements conveniently. The SHareCon mailing list is open to anyone with any interest in con activities, but we ask everyone with attending or supporting memberships to join to facilitate communication directly with members.
Okay, that takes care of announcement #1! Watch this space for more news. And yes, it's still snowing.

The first SH zine, Zebra Three, #1, produced on mimeograph while the show was still on the air, is considered an important publication in the history of our fandom. So I wanted to let everyone know that one of the longest stories in that zine, Mojave Crossing by C. Faddis, has just been posted to the Starsky and Hutch archive.

You can find the story on the home page or through this link:http://starskyhutcharchive.net/viewstory.php?sid=2598. Special thanks to the archive volunteers who helped digitize and proofread Mojave Crossing. The story is posted with its art, also by the author.

As we make plans for SHareCon 2018, we need your input. We often ask the membership for panel ideas, episode suggestions, favorite vids, and other input. Now, we're asking your input on how best to communicate with the membership, your interest in the registration package, and other issues. If you have any interest in SHareCon at all, whether or not you think you might attend, please fill out the brief poll we've set up. Besides a few direct questions, the poll also gives you an opportunity to provide other feedback. We do ask for a fannish name and email address, but this information will not be published or shared and can only be seen by those of us tabulating the poll results.

You can find the poll at:

http://sharecon.net/limesurvey/index.php/survey/index/sid/945683/newtest/Y/lang/en

The asterisk (*) indicates a mandatory question. Thanks in advance for participating.

The poll will expire in a week, on Sunday, February 11th at 1159pm EST.

Thanks to everyone who participated in our hotel poll. And apologies for forgetting to post the deadline. My bad! We will be holding the con at the Homewood Suites. Homewood received more than two thirds of the vote. As soon as I get the papers signed, the hotel will give us a website link to reserve rooms. We'll be posting more details in the next few days. Start thinking up panel ideas!!!

SHareCon Poll Deadline

Newyear

I failed to mention in the lengthy postI sent out yesterday, that the poll will only be open until Monday at 9:30 AM eastern time. So, if you're interested in attending SHareCon, please take the poll!

If you are considering coming to SHareCon, please follow the link to answer a quick poll on these two options.

1. The DoubleTree Hotel for the cheaper room rate, the choice of rooms with two beds, a more private meeting space, the ability to enjoy con activities later at night, the onsite restaurant, and the option to bring my pet. I understand the hotel shuttle does not go to the airport, that breakfast is not free, that other food options may be limited or more expensive, and that I might not have a refrigerator in my room.

2. The Homewood Suites for the free breakfast, airport shuttle, spacious suites, and cheaper food options. I understand I will pay more for rooms, that I might not be able to get a room with two beds, that no pets are allowed, and that the official con space will have to shut down at 11:30pm.
The poll also has a place where you can leave an optional comment if you'd like.

Apologies for cross posting, but this information is critical. If you have any interest in attending SHareCon 2018. Please read to the end so you can participate in a poll.
___________
We've been hosting SHareCon every other year since 2000, so we're used to negotiating with hotels. This will be our 10th con. We always try to get the best deal we can. We consider our best logistics, transportation, and food costs. This year, the choices haven't been clear cut, so we need your input. After talking to 25 different hotels, we are considering two (in alphabetical order):

Finally, it's time to open the very last door of the Advent Calendar! And Elves D.P. Patricks, Wightfaerie, and Suzan have crafted three wonderful gifts to bring our calendar to an amazing close for this year. But that doesn't mean the Calendar is over. All the stories, the poems, the vids, the puzzles, the podfic, the podcasts, the art -- oh, the art! -- will continue to be available for all to enjoy!

Special thanks to Suzan who designed the graphics and created the main page art (and other gifts), and Cyanne who creates the calendar's structure, installs the graphics, and keeps the whole thing running smoothly.

We have surpassed a thousand comments, and are still counting. The fandom's collective participation this year has been overwhelming. Thanks to everyone who created gifts, sent comments, and worked with us to make such a memorable Advent Calendar.

To everyone in SH fandom, have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
