August 12th, 2018

We extended our deadline for the Paula Wilshe and Marian Kelly nominations to August 15. So for all of you last minute types like me, this is very close to the last minute!!! Get your nominations in! Remember, if you haven't nominated your fav new writer, or fav established writer, story, vidder, vid, artist and art, and you see it on the nominations list, go ahead and nominate again. Flamingo, Cyanne, and Keri

July 30th, 2018

Huge thanks to everyone who worked so hard to submit nominations on the Paula Wilshe and Marian Kelly Awards survey. I really appreciate it.
And HUGE apologies to all the fans who found the survey too daunting to attempt. I am truly sorry. We instituted the survey because we've had good participation on surveys in the past, and because the number of individual email nominations we received in 2016 was tremendous. So, yeah, we made the survey to ease our workload. I admit it. But we didn't want to ease it this much.
This year, the number of fans who've participated is far fewer than 2016. So, we're clearly doing something wrong. We want nominations. We need nominations. We want the awards to be a true representation of how our fandom feels about our creators. Therefore, we are making changes.
1. We are extending the nomination period to AUGUST 15th.
2. We will accept nominations via email! (Addresses below.)

July 23rd, 2018

The deadline for award nominations is July 31! These awards honor fans who were once active creators in their own right and were huge supporters of other creative fans in Starsky & Hutch. Today's creative fans -- writers, artists, and vidders -- keep our fandom fresh with new stories, images, and ideas -- new ways of seeing our guys. They don't get paid for the time they spend bringing these ideas to life. Nominating our creators and their creations lets them know how important they are to us. It's a chance to thank them for their hard work.

The Paula Wilshe Award for New Writers is for anyone who started writing in S&H in the last six years. You can find information on nominating here. The list of current nominees is here. If others have already nominated your favorite writer, nominate her again. The top ten nominees are eligible for the final vote.

The Marian Kelly Hall of Fame award has more categories. You can nominate your favorite Writer, Artist, and Vidder, and also nominate their individual works. You can find information on nominating here. You can see the amazing list of nominees here. Same idea applies: Top ten nominees will be eligible for the final vote.

So why wait? Look over the nominations. Use it as your new best rec list. And nominate. We need to hear from you preferably before July 31. Voting -- it's a good habit to get into.

Forgive the double posts, but that previous registration announcement was the unedited post. Editing helps! Here's the correct post:

This announcement is short and sweet. SHareCon registration is open. The earlier you register, the cheaper it is. Attending rates go up on June 2nd and again on August 26th. Sign up now and save! (Does this sound like an infomercial? Is it working? Good!)

The hotel is also ready to accept room reservations for SHareCon. The hotel page on the SHareCon website has details about the hotel location, room types, rates, and a link to the Homewood Suites by Hilton Baltimore-BWI Airport's custom SHareCon reservation page. If you make reservations through an internet site or an 800 number, the con will not get credit for your suite and you will not get the special con rate.

And finally, a reminder that after this announcement, all further updates will be posted to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook, so please make sure you are subscribed to one or both of those sources.

Any questions, feel free to ask Flamingo at flamingoslim @ verizon dot net.

The edited Flamingo!

SHareCon Poll results

I warned you more announcements would be coming! Here's number two.

I want to thank everyone for your enthusiastic response to the SHareCon poll. We got some wonderful input and suggestions. One of the most rewarding and surprising responses had to do with the paper zine. I was pretty sure the zine was just a pet project of the con comm, that most SHareCon goers had, at best, only minor interest in it. But according to our poll, the overwhelming majority wanted a paper zine and the digital version. So that is definitely happening! And we can't have a zine without contributors, so writers, artists, and all other creators, we need you. Keep an eye out for the zine announcement coming soon.

You also had some great fresh ideas for different con activities, games, panels, and surprises for the con bags. We're already looking into all of it! We will be sharing some of your suggestions in the discussion forums, and some we'll keep as fun surprises. As always, your creativity is what makes the con new and exciting after all these years.
Your input is important to us, so keep those ideas percolating. Which reminds me… I need coffee before the next round of announcements.

Just a reminder: we'll be posting the current round of announcements to the usual places, but after that, announcements will be limited to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook.

Those of us on the east coast woke up to a spring surprise! At the new Chez Flamingo, we've got 6 inches of snow so far and it's still coming down! Because the snow has restricted our ongoing moving tasks, it gives me a day to catch up on email announcements. And the first one (of a series!) is regarding our announcements. Yeah, you read that right -- this is an announcement about announcements.

As I've whined before, because of the fragmenting of fandom, I have to send out announcements to multiple platforms. The SHareCon poll helped us figure out how to make this process more efficient; thanks to all of you who participated. The next few announcement will be posted to the usual places, but after that announcements will be limited to the SHareCon mailing list and the Starsky/Hutch the Original Bromance (slash ship) community on Facebook.

The Facebook group will be using the hashtag #SHareCon so you can find the announcements conveniently. The SHareCon mailing list is open to anyone with any interest in con activities, but we ask everyone with attending or supporting memberships to join to facilitate communication directly with members.
Okay, that takes care of announcement #1! Watch this space for more news. And yes, it's still snowing.

March 6th, 2018

The first SH zine, Zebra Three, #1, produced on mimeograph while the show was still on the air, is considered an important publication in the history of our fandom. So I wanted to let everyone know that one of the longest stories in that zine, Mojave Crossing by C. Faddis, has just been posted to the Starsky and Hutch archive.

You can find the story on the home page or through this link:http://starskyhutcharchive.net/viewstory.php?sid=2598. Special thanks to the archive volunteers who helped digitize and proofread Mojave Crossing. The story is posted with its art, also by the author.

February 8th, 2018

If you have any interest in SHareCon 2018, October 19-22, please participate in a brief SHareCon poll:

The poll deadline is Sunday, February 11th at 1159pm EST. The information in the poll will help us plan for the con and the best ways to communicate with attending and supporting members.

We appreciate your input!!

Flamingo and the Con Committee

February 4th, 2018

As we make plans for SHareCon 2018, we need your input. We often ask the membership for panel ideas, episode suggestions, favorite vids, and other input. Now, we're asking your input on how best to communicate with the membership, your interest in the registration package, and other issues. If you have any interest in SHareCon at all, whether or not you think you might attend, please fill out the brief poll we've set up. Besides a few direct questions, the poll also gives you an opportunity to provide other feedback. We do ask for a fannish name and email address, but this information will not be published or shared and can only be seen by those of us tabulating the poll results.

You can find the poll at:

The asterisk (*) indicates a mandatory question. Thanks in advance for participating.

The poll will expire in a week, on Sunday, February 11th at 1159pm EST.
